Snapshots (2004)
“Snapshots” explores photography and its role in defining memory. When I look at my childhood photos I’m bewildered by what is presented – it is not my memory of what I experienced. In some ways, this series is about reconstructing memory. The process is many layered and is also about excavation, searching for reality. Photographs are taken, scanned in the computer, printed and then painted on. The painting process both reveals and masks information. The paintings are then scanned and printed on photographic paper. At 4” X 6”, they are the standard size for the amateur snapshot. They are printed on glossy photographic paper and have white boarders. They appear to have been picked up at the local camera shop. $ 200 per print, unframed
